Academic Controversy

Now that you know a bit more about social networking services that are so popular among students, we will discuss the value or danger of using them in the classroom as tools for learning. We will use the Cooperative Learning strategy called Academic Controversy (a friendlier version of a debate where there is a winner and loser).

Directions:

1. Read about Academic Controversy as defined by Johnson and Johnson. Also, see how one high school uses Academic Controversy.
2. Decide on the teams of two in your group and which team will be for or against using social networking services in the classroom to promote learning
3. Follow these steps.
However, you don't have to write the report--just give a brief overview.
4. Share your synthesis with the class.
